A WONDERFUL BIRD IS THE PELICAN

Completed in 2019 by Angus Wilson

Angus Wilson has created a personal narrative which was inspired by a poem read to him many times by his mother when he was a child.

A wonderful bird is the Pelican,

His bill will hold more than his bellican

He can take in his beak enough food for a week,

But I’m damned if I see how the helican

The towering bird spreads his wings flamboyantly atop a tree stump which features the familiar words of the poem.

Local farm scrap metal forms the pelican which is mounted on timber from the banks of the MacIntyre River.
