TWO WAY FLOW
Completed in 2024 by QCA Live Art and GSHS students
Queensland College of Art & Design and Goondiwindi State High School have collaborated to create new artworks for Lanescape at two locations along the Macintyre River. Lanescape Goondiwindi is a Community Arts Group focused on improving community participation in arts and culture across the region. Every year a new theme prompts artists to respond with contemporary public art to create vibrant evolving spaces and places. This year the students responded to the theme of ‘flow’ exploring notions of continuity, rhythm, circulation, flux, passage, and movement.
Students developed concept designs with the local High School and worked alongside secondary students. Through an interactive school workshop, students considered what makes successful contemporary public art and ways that contemporary mural painting is enriched by shared stories, histories and places.
The artwork was installed by students with the supervision and guidance of Dr Simon Degroot from Queensland College of Art and Design. QCAD LiveArt has established a successful track record in creating inclusive and active working teams to design and install artworks with communities across Queensland.
